The Dräger company has always been characterized by inventiveness, pioneering spirit and implementation capability. With the development of the “Model 1904” closed-circuit breathing apparatus over 100 years ago, Johann Heinrich Dräger and his son Alexander Bernhard were entering new territory in the field of mine rescue. In 1919, the first tube for the measurement of carbon monoxide was patented, thus placing the cornerstone for the important field of gas detection. When the Dräger-Tube was introduced in 1934, the existence of carbon monoxide and an array of other toxic materials could be successfully measured for the first time.

If the ambient air becomes impossible to breathe, an oxygen self-rescuer from Dräger provides an immediate source of safe breathing air. More and more often compressed breathing air apparatus are being combined with filling stations underground for self-rescue.
